Blog 4 – Dress Rehearsal

I am looking ahead to our study day at St Mark’s Church this Saturday, 18th April, and towards our Baroque Masterpieces concert on 2nd May with a growing sense of anticipation—a chance to bring together all the work that has been building over recent weeks. With extra rehearsals behind me, it feels like an important milestone. St Mark’s Church on Nottingham Road will provide a truly special setting—well worthy of a visit as one of the best Victorian churches, built to the design of Temple Moore https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Mark%27s_Church,_Mansfield. Its vaulted ceilings and fine acoustics offer a natural resonance that will carry and enrich the sound, adding depth even to the simplest phrases. Under the guidance of our musical director, Diane Haslam https://mansfieldchoral.org/about-us-old/about-us-2/, myself, together with my fellow choristers have been working with real commitment. This day is an opportunity to gather that hard work and begin to hear what it can become in such a space.
