Mansfield Choral Society is an amateur, non-audition, four-part mixed choir of around 50 voices, performing a wide range of choral music, from large classical choral works to contemporary choral music and arrangements of jazz standards and lighter pieces, both accompanied and a-cappella.
We are committed to making singing accessible to everyone and all you need is a love of singing and be interested in singing elating music written specifically for, and performed by a choir.
We’re a friendly and supportive group, and we do our best to make sure everyone feels comfortable and included. If standing for long periods is difficult, you don’t have to stand throughout rehearsals or performances, and if you can’t remember all the words, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with singing from your sheet music!
Above all, we believe singing should be enjoyable. There’s something very special about making music together – the sound of a choir, the excitement of performing and the sheer joy of singing with other people. It’s a wonderful way to switch off from the stresses of everyday life. Once you’re concentrating on the music, everything else seems to disappear for a while.
Choral singing has become increasingly popular in recent years which shows just how uplifting and exciting singing together can be.
But it isn’t just the music that keeps our members coming back. The friendships and sense of community are just as important. We enjoy rehearsing together, performing together and, most of all, being part of a friendly group with a shared love of music.
So, if you’ve ever fancied giving choir singing a go, come along and meet us. You’ll receive a very warm welcome.
Our choir year is from September to July and the choir performs 3-4 full concerts per year in the Mansfield area. There are occasional short outreach performances, and the choir sometimes collaborates in concerts with other choirs.
We rehearse at Ladybrook Community Centre, Ladybrook Lane, Mansfield, NG18 5JJ on Thursday evenings 7pm-9pm during term times. We also hold 2 Saturday morning rehearsals every season.
