Mansfield Choral Society will celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence on Saturday July 4th with a concert of all-American music. The programme will be a mix of many American music traditions including old American hymns and folk music, contemporary choral masterpieces, spirituals, and much-loved musical theatre favourites, by composers including Eric Whitacre, Aaron Copland, Gershwin, Cole Porter, and Rodgers and Hammerstein.

Musical Director Diane Haslam says: “Having lived for many years in the USA, I came to love this music dearly. The musical traditions in America are very diverse but at their heart is almost always a joy and optimism that is infectious. We hope to have you toe-tapping and singing along with the choir by the end of the performance!”

The choir is delighted to be joined by soloists soprano, Abby Wells, and baritone, Will Burns, for this evening of many familiar tunes. The concert will be ‘café style’, with the audience encouraged to bring their own beverages and snacks to enjoy at tables while experiencing a fun-filled performance!
